Description: I am selling a late 1700's NIAGARA FALLS, CANADA, ENGRAVING BY C.M. METZ, BONN, GERMANY. C.M. Metz was born in 1749 and passed in 1827. Born in Bonn, Germany, he was a painter and engraver. Many of his works have been sold over the past two centuries. The engraving, published in a book by Thomas Kelly, is very detailed in the landscape and people in the print. The date is actually not on the print, but from selling many of Conrad Martin Metz engravings in the past, I am very familiar with the dates and periods of his works. The print measures 9" x 7". The Publisher, Thomas Kelly, was born in Ireland, and immigrated to the United Sates in 1830. He passed in 1841 in New York City. This published engraving, created in the 1780's, was published in Thomas Kellys book in the mid 1830's. Please notice the "Colonial" era figures in the bottom right corner of the engraving, which places this work of art in the early to mid 1780's. Thank you for looking.
