Description: 1890’s Charlie Bennett cabinet card. Published in Chicago by Stevens. Bennett was one of the greatest catchers and players of the 19th century. Offensively and defensively. Bennett’s career was ended by a simple misstep on a train. His legs were severed during a careless misstep when encountering an acquaintance at a train stop. Bennett’s final MLB game was played for Boston. Card is a little less than 5 by 7 inch in size. Stains, toning and wear. First name on back. Likely written by Bennett. Feel free to ask questions.
