Born on October 5, 1929, in Hartford, CT to Alice Alderson Magee and John Magee II, he was the cherished husband of Mary Ann (Kaspar) Magee of Vernon, CT for 46 years. Sandy leaves behind his wife Mary Ann, daughter Kathryn (Magee) Kenney and her husband Dr. Raymond Kenney, twin granddaughters Jaime & Chloe Kenney, sister Cynthia Magee, brother-in-law Anthony Hansen, nephew Christopher Hansen, and sister Abigail Magee. He later transitioned to a career as a professional scratchboard artist. His accolades include a listing in "Who's Who in American Art" and numerous awards such as the Federal Duck Stamp Award 1976, Hudson Valley Art Association Gold Medal of Honor 1975, The Salmagundi Fitch Award 1977, Society of Animal Artists 1981, and the American Artists Professional League Gold Medal of Honor 1978.
