Description: Sir Ambrose Heal and the Heal Cabinet Factory 1897 - 1939; Heal, Oliver S.; Oblong Creative Ltd; 2014; 33.5x24.5 cm; English language; 324 pages hardback with dust jacket Heal and Sons publication based on the PhD by Oliver S Heal the grandson of Ambose Heal. The histories of Heal's in general don't give you much of an overview of the range of furniture production prewar. This book fills that gap with a plethora of information about the shop, how it was run, the Mansard Gallery plus a detailed investigation into the furniture produced in house and by outside companies including an appendix at the rear that lists the model number and quantity produced. Invaluable for collectors and dealers alike. Beautiful production with excellent photographic illustrations plus line drawn illustrations from the companies catalogues. A great book that charts the shift from an arts and crafts aesthetic to one of a restrained art deco with the use of limed oak. Self-published through subscription which kept the original retail price so low. Condition: New old stock, wholesale orders available Feel free to ask questions, and check out our shop, as it gives you the tools to browse through different categories such as furniture or lamps or Italian Design.
