Description: Elegant and elaborate 19th C. silk & lace evening gown; black, for a lady in mourning. Sequins are real Mother-of-Pearl. Inside tag very faded, but part of printed label reads ‘DWYER’. This dress possibly featured a bustle, since the back of skirt is about 9 inches longer than the front, (or simply a train; formal wear). Underskirt has a wide pleated ruffle at bottom. It appears that the lace was draped across the back; there are MANY hook-and-eyes on both sides of back (the interior of bodice & also for the lace drape). Also, some hook-and-eyes to attach the bodice to skirt, so there are no ‘gaps’ when worn. Measurements: Skirt waist - 24” to 26”; front length - 46”; back length - approximately 55” Bodice waist - approximately 24” NOTE: Due to smallness of bodice and length of skirt, both a tall and a short mannequin were used for display purposes. NOTE: Several issues (such as tears or holes in lace) are highlighted in photos. As clothing that was used well over 100 years ago, there will inevitably be some areas that I missed. Hence the many photos included in listing. Please examine the many photos, as they constitute a major part of the description. Send your questions and I will answer to the best of my ability. Thank you for looking. (Domestic shipping: Due to size of box, shipping service will be USPS Ground Advantage. International shipping provided through eBay International Shipping Service.
