The BBC do not impose editorial control on the material recorded. So while some artists use the opportunity to promote a version of their latest single, bauhaus opted to explore "off-the -record" ideas; experimenting with tracks that would later be re-recorded for record release, recording cover versions of songs they'd played during sound checks before live shows, or just trying something to see what happened. Each session was recorded and mixed in one day, and in most cases the group performed live in the studio with minimal overdubs, giving the tracks an additional edge. Five of these recordings were used on official record releases: Bauhaus felt the session version of 'Double Dare' was stronger than a later studio take and included it on their debut album; 'Departure' and 'Party Of The First Part' were used as 'b' sides on 12" singles; 'Ziggy Stardust' and 'Third Uncle' were coupled on a single and became their biggest hit. Two other songs have never officially appeared on record before now: 'Poison Pen' was re-recorded but was not used and 'Night Time' is a cover of The Strangeloves' USA garage classic. Though these tracks were never recorded with a record release in mind (and Bauhaus would probably feel happier if a couple of the performances were left in the vault), the complete BBC sessions are presented here legally for the first time, digitally remastered from the original tapes. They are a fascinating insight into the Bauhaus legacy. Some notes and credits are taken from Ken Garner's 'In Session Tonight - The Complete Radio 1 Recordings and BBC - Radio 1 - Keeping it Peel'. Session 4 & 5 broadcast dates are not as printed on the release, where the recording date was given as broadcast date. Released in a gatefold sleeve. Artwork/text is printed sideways relative to the pocket openings, front and back. Printed inner sleeves have the Bauhaus back catalogue on one sleeve and assorted artists from the Beggars Banquet stable on the other sleeve. These reference the budget reissues Lowdown.Barcode and Other IdentifiersBarcode (String): 5 012093 010311Barcode (Scanned): 5012093010311Matrix / Runout (Side A, Variant 1): BEGA 103 A-1 MT BILBO TAPE ONEMatrix / Runout (Side B, Variant 1): BEGA 103 B-1 MT BILBO TAPE ONEMatrix / Runout (Side C, Variant 1): BEGA 103 C-1 MT BILBO TAPE ONEMatrix / Runout (Side D, Variant 1): BEGA 103 D-1 MT BILBO TAPE ONEMatrix / Runout (Side A, Variant 2): BEGA 103 A-1 MT BILBO TAPE ONE DMatrix / Runout (Side B, Variant 2): BEGA 103 B-1 MT BILBO TAPE ONE DMatrix / Runout (Side C, Variant 2): BEGA 103 C-1 MT BILBO TAPE ONE CMatrix / Runout (Side D, Variant 2): BEGA 103 D-1 MT BILBO TAPE ONE B Bauhaus was an English Post-Punk/Gothic Rock band, formed in Northampton in 1978.Originally named "Bauhaus 1919" after the school of the same name, but dropped 1919 before being together for one year.Bauhaus disbanded in 1983 , but reunited for a tour in 1998.Daniel Ash, David Haskins and Kevin Haskins founded Love And Rockets and Peter Murphy made Dalis Car collaboration for a year and later as solo artist. The band reformed and toured again in 2005, but ultimately broke up in 2008, after releasing the final studio album "Go Away White". "Swing The Heartache The BBC Sessions" is one for any serious vinyl collectors. This particular item is well looked after. That said there will be the usual marks on the record sleeve. Also there will be some hairline marks with the record. Please understand this is not a new reissue but the original pressing so it is more 40 years old. If you can't accept those condition please don't buy and hoping to have partial refunds because it is described here. Record: Mint-Sleeve: Mint It's time to dislodge my massive collection of records I collect all these years. I have to call it a day after losing my hearing. There are more than 2000 records comprising Classical, Rock and Rock, Folk, Jazz and Pop music. They are mostly the first pressings or second pressing from the era, not the recent reissues which suffer from wrapping and bad sound quality.
