Description: Here is a rare and possibly unique coin from ancient Himera ( as Thermai Himerensis ) that has been overstruck on another unidentified coin of the era. Struck after 241BC on a 30mm bronze coin weighing 16.9gm., this coin is beautiful as well as very interesting. Obv. Turreted and veiled head of Tyche facing right, within a dotted border with a torch(?) behind. and some details of the under type outside of the border. Rev. Stesichoros standing right, leaning on a staff and reading a book with OEPMITAN IMEPAION around. Traces of the under type seen include a small face left at the 10 o'clock position and other unknown features of the original coin. In the beautiful condition shown with no damage that I can find and a must for the serious collector over over-struck ancients. Your satisfaction is guaranteed in any case since if you are unhappy with your purchase for any reason, I will refund the initial shipping fee and also pay the return shipping cost for a truly risk-free purchase.
