Windsor Utley (1920-1989) Born in Los Angeles, Windsor Utley was a Seattle artist, teacher and musician who was trained as a flutist at the University of California Los Angeles, University of Southern California and Pomona College. His formal education in painting was limited to summer art classes at the University of Los Angeles in California in 1938, although he later received guidance from his good friend Mark Tobey (1890-1976). In 1947 Utley shifted from music to painting as his primary career. He exhibited widely in the Seattle area, The Guggenheim and Brooklyn Art Museums and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
