Photo Realistic Pencil Art

Description: Between 1997 and 2003 I was in a circumstance where I had the freedom to spend several hours every day drawing wildlife art, my passion, and hoped to someday make a living as an artist. In 2004 I had 30 original drawings that I took around to numerous galleries in the Colorado Springs/Manitou Springs area to see what sort of reaction I would get from those who handled lots of art. I can honestly say that every gallery that I showed my artwork to was interested in displaying and selling my work. No one ever rejected me. My problem at that time is that the galleries wanted approximately 50% of the sale price and weren't really doing much promotional wise other than putting it on their walls. I was in a place financially where I made a good living working in custom homes and wouldn't part with my work for the kind of money that the galleries were offering. I am still in that place! For anyone who has ever labored over a drawing, such as the one that is here listed for sale, for SIX WEEKS and approximately seven hours a day, they can surely understand. It is a labor of love in an imaginary world of your own creation filled with hopes and dreams. They will be given to family and friends before I give them away for pennies. I hope that you understand. In regards to the art, I had 30 original drawings completed but in 2004 I was working in a very large home in the King's Deer housing development of Monument, Colorado and found that the home owner was a serious collector of wildlife art and he purchased two drawings, both 15" x 20" in dimension, and so I have a total of 28 left. This is the first time I have attempted to market them since. They have not been for sale in any venue since 2004. The drawing for sale here is titled Eagle Creek Remembrance. The drawing began with a photo taken by a game camera set up by a friend of mine in southern Illinois. He was an avid hunter and caught this stunning winter scene and informed me that for some reason, that I no longer remember, it no longer exists. That was the 'emotional' element that motivated me to draw it. The elk in the drawing was not in the photo and I chose that particular animal because it fit with the beautiful winter scene. I used every pencil from a 6b to a 9h to capture all of the various shades from the snow to the the dark of the trees, etc. The hazy background in the distant woods is highly detailed with tree limbs, snow on branches, and very difficult to create. This drawing took six weeks and seven hours a day. If you were to see it up close you would know it. The dimensions are 20"x 30". The second photo of a Siberian tiger is titled Fire and Ice. The photo was taken from the actual drawing with no glass, frame, etc. The first two drawings are the same dimension as well as the last drawing. All of the other drawings are 15" x 20". The other drawings are photos of pictures of drawings that are in dry storage and I simply attached them so that others could see a small selection of my art. All of the others are stored and not immediately accessible to me (45 miles away). All of them are for sale. If you have any interest or any questions call me at 817 403-7723. Thank you for your interest. If you purchase this drawing I will build a secure wooden crate and cover mailing costs up to $100.00. Insurance is the buyers responsibility. The frame comes with the drawing.
