Description: Here's a scarce early redware or heavy earthenware grease/oil lamp from the late 1700s Colonial Era or early 1800s....thick heavy redware or stoneware....lead glaze with sort of a greenish hue with a couple orange spots showing through....1 1/2"tall x 5 1/2"long....It has some chips on the rim but no cracks. Some old wear/glaze loss at spout where the wick burned. This is an early style lamp that used either grease, fat or oil as fuel. A cloth wick was layed in the sunken channel.
