Description: Offered is a collection of framed pictures of characters in Scottish costume showing tartans and clan names The artist is R.R. McIan who was commissioned by royal appointment in the mid-19th century to catalogue tartan. His work basically became the official catalogue of tartans with the blessing of Queen Victoria, who was very keen on Scottish culture, and chose to spend much of her long reign in Scotland. They were originally produced / offered for distribution by Ackermann & Co. of 96, The Strand, London. The pictures were removed from a public house last century and have been sitting in storage. The pictures are being offered as single items UNFRAMED but at the moment of advertising the collection comprises characters as listed below.
