Description: You are purchasing a: Sheila's Wood Figurine Decor LONGWOOD Natchez, Mississippi Built by Dr. Haller Nutt, and otherwise known as "Nutt's Folly." Longwood is magnificent to behold. Built between 1860 and 1862, it was unfortunate for Dr. Nutt that construction of Longwood began in the same year that its setting, the wealthy and beautiful plantation town of Natchez, began to decline. Longwood was never finished. Many of the carpenters, working on its construction, were from the North. When war broke out in 1861, the Yankee men packed up their tools and headed for home. This unusual Moorish mansion is a hint at what might have been had the Civil War not put an end to the prosperity of the South. PLA02 8½" x 5½" x 1" Made in U.S.A.
