This uses the existing screw, and hole on the scanner and replaces the circular belt mount. Be careful not to over tighten when installing. All that is required for install is a small screw driver. Breaking the top knob is extremely common, and costs ~100 dollars and over a month for Uniden to repair. You could easily cut the piece out to be able to access the headphone jack if you really needed it. I cannot guarantee that this will 100% protect from all drops/ accidents.
