Description: You are purchasing 2 pieces of pottery manufactured by the Weller Co. Background: I am not a pottery expert. Nor in general am I extremely knowledgeable about pottery. The extent of my pottery knowledge is limited to the four or five reference books researched used to identify these two small vases. Based on this research, the vases were manufactured by Weller Co. The vases were manufactured during the period 1898 to 1915. These vases are from the Eocean pottery line. An early art pottery line. It is also possible that the vases came from the Etna (1906) period. Both vases have Weller stamped on the base. If you are still reading and are interested in purchasing these vases is a strong indicator that you are probably more knowledgeable than I am about Weller Pottery. If this is in fact the case and you feel that I have not properly identified these vases or I made an improper statement please contact me and I will correct the error. I would appreciate you providing the reference source of our information. This will enable me to increase my knowledge of Weller Pottery. Condition: Vase 1. The taller of the two vases (a more grey purple flower) There is one small area on the lip with a rough spot. No material is missing. There is a slight bruise to the glazing. There is a second area more toward the internal diameter of the lip where during the manufacturing process it appears the glazing was incomplete. Immediately adjacent to this area the vase has had some internal pressure applied creating two small chips and a condition resulting in two small cracks. See photographs 7,8 and 9 . (It is apparent if more pressure had been applied to this area the result would have been a fairly large chip at the lip. At this point this is not the case and as long as the vase is handled properly no significant addtional damage should be produced. Note this area has not been glued or repaired See all the photographs showing the crazing condition on the piece. Vase 2. The smaller of the two vases (more plum colored flower) There is one very small chip on the lip. See photograph 10 . Also see all the photographs showing the crazing condition on the piece. Note: Please note, when examining the photographs showing the defects that a macro setting was used on the camera. Compare the defect or chip to the pencil point. I have attempted to identify any condition that exists with these two pieces of pottery. No matter how small the condition might be. None of the small chipped areas are significant. Nor would they be visible with the vases on display. Size: Vase 1: The taller of the two vases. (more grey purple flower) 4 1/2" tall, 3 1/2" diameter at largest point. Vase 2: The smaller of the two vases. (more plum colored flower) 4" tall, 3 5/8" diameter at largest point. Shipping cost includes packaging materials when applicable and insurance cost.
